My Name is Name (5+)

«When I grow up, will I be a woman or a man? A playful approach to one’s own identity and gender roles.»

A man and a woman draw on a projection surface. A male stick figure is created – or is it a female stick figure? The little figure wants to get to know itself and the world. The two adults get into a fix. What name should the child have? What color should the nursery be? What clothes should it wear, what toys will it want to play with? Man? Woman? Child? Why do we divide according to gender at all? Why not according to other criteria?

Two projectors, foil and drawing pens – Julius Griesenberg and Brigitta Weber don’t need much more to ask questions about identity and the roles of the sexes.

«My Name is Name» is a cooperation of Theater Blau Zurich and Theater Jungfrau & Co. Bern. Both theatre companies deal with socially pressing issues and explore artistic forms of implementation. Parallel to the working process, the theater creators worked with kindergarten and school classes. The results flowed into the development of the play.
